Overview

The APL (Approx Polyline) command allows you to create room measurements with associated work order information directly in your AutoCAD drawing.

Usage

  1. Click the APL button or type 'APL' in the command line
  2. Select a work order from the Work Order List palette
  3. Select a row type from the Row Types palette
  4. Enter the room height when prompted
  5. Click points to create a closed polyline representing the room boundary
  6. Press Enter or type 'Close' to finish

What it Creates

The command creates two elements:

1. Room Boundary Polyline

  • Drawn on the 'ApproxWorkOrder' layer
  • Has a constant width for visibility
  • Closed polyline with the points you specified

2. Room Information Block

  • Placed at the centroid of the room
  • Contains a table with:Work Order codeWork Group TypeWork TypeRow TypeArea (in m²)Perimeter (in m)Height (in m)

Tips

  • The last height you entered will be remembered and suggested as default
  • You can press ESC at any time to cancel
  • The room area and perimeter are automatically calculated
  • All measurements are displayed in metric units (meters and square meters)
  • After creating a room, the next work order in the list is automatically selected

Requirements

  • A work order must be selected in the Work Order List palette
  • A row type must be selected in the Row Types palette
  • Currently supports 'ROOM' and 'ODA' row types "
